|Continuing Your Education Online: Lynda.com & Gale Courses (Walk-In) 6-7pm|
Event Type: Adult|
Start Time: 6:00 PM
End Time: 7:00 PM
Would you love to "go back to school," but don't have the time or the money? Do you need to complete continuing education credits for your job, but find it hard to locate quality classes? Join us for a demonstration of WNPL's online education tools, Lynda.com and Gale Courses. Both tools are available, for free, to Warren-Newport Library cardholders. Lynda.com provides short lessons and series of lessons on a wide range of technology topics, including programming, Microsoft products, and more. Gale Courses provides instructor-led, 6-week courses on topics such as test prep, accounting principles, grant writing, getting published, and Microsoft products. Both services provide proof of course completion. This is a walk-in, demonstration class, available to the first 10 people who are seated in the computer lab prior to the start of class. If you have questions, please call the Adult Services Desk at 847-244-5150, then press 4. This class is open to all; please note that WNPL can only offer WNPL cardholders access to these products; please contact your home library for information on using these products with your non-WNPL library card.
Location: Computer Lab
If you can't make this class, you can still learn about computers and technology on your own time, using your WNPL library card. Check out our Lynda.com and Gale Courses classes on our website (go to E-Library, and choose databases, then look for Lynda.com or Gale Courses; both services allow you to search for computer and technology instruction on a variety of topics, all from home!). Lynda.com provides short demonstration videos and instruction on a variety of computer topics. Gale Courses offers full 6 week, instructor-led courses on topics like Excel, Excel Pivot Tables, PowerPoint, and other technology topics (they also offer test prep, career skills classes, and more). For more information on Lynda.com, Gale Courses, or other library databases, please visit the E-Library link at www.wnpl.info or ask for assistance at the Adult Services Desk.Presenter: Pam Pleviak
